Sherson made way for the castle. Seven clerics from the Salidonian army noticed him in the heat of battle and decided to follow. One of them, known as Manthos, gave Sherson a piercing look of hatred and jealousy with his green eyes. Sherson did not acknowledge his glare. The clerics were skilled in the ways of healing magic and summoning aid from nature. Risaldora had learned much of her magic from the clerics of Salidon. Although from Salidon, most of their training was done in the city of Chugean. She had mastered the ways of summoning nature in her magic skills and many clerics looked up to her. They also knew that she was close companions with Sherson and he had his own unique skills in the magical arts. Some, however, feared that his skills would someday bring upon them mass destruction since his magic was not purely natural.
Sherson and the clerics ran by a toy shop that once brought smiles to the faces of many children in Centuria. The dolls in the window display seemed like they fixed their eyes on the men running by. A cleric dressed in white and light blue clothes hesitated and thought she had seen one of the dolls move. She had to take a second look, but the dolls remained still and lifeless. A cleric dressed in drab beside her hurried her on and told her, “Do not hesitate. Lives are at stake.” She nodded letting the cleric know that she understood.
Lightning bolts, fireballs, and gusts of strong winds cut the demons down as Sherson and the clerics headed toward the castle. The magic was cast from the tips of their fingers, staffs and wands. The instruments lit up briefly with a shimmer before the strikes happened. Lights in a variety of colors brightened up the battlefield as the warlock and his companions cast spells. The air began to grow hotter as demons were set afire and more fireballs flew. The warriors fought alongside them battling the demons with their beaten shields, armor, and worn, but still razor-sharp, weapons. The demons fought back with a malicious and desperate attempt to keep the humans from retaking Centuria. They knew that their commander, Nisgi, would make them suffer a pain far worse than any pain the humans could inflict. Therefore, they had no reason not to sacrifice every last bit of strength they had to keep the city in demon hands.
Gathar called out another order. “Move to the south wall of the castle and take your posts in the strongholds. Clear the way for the clerics. We will stage our ward for recovery in the great hall at the south end of the castle and set up a command post in the war room. Do make haste.”
The warriors spoke in unison, “Yes, General Gathar!” and moved expeditiously to the south wall of Centuria castle. The south wall had been reinforced by the demons. Heavy infantry were recruited to breakdown the wall. The clerics headed for the main entrance at the west wall of the castle.
